TARA and the Malawian Department of Antiquities conducted a community sensitization exercise from 06 – 09 August 2012 at Chongoni rock art World Heritage Site. The aim of this activity was to strengthen dialogue with the local communities on the management and conservation of the rock art sites. A total of 220 community members attended these meetings held in Naoza, Chipazi, Mpalale and and Hinda villages. These communities live around Chentcherere, Namzeze and Phanga la Ngoni sites This activity was carried out in the core zone of the World Heritage Site. This meetings were conducted within the framework of TARA/Antiquities joint community project supported by the U.S Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation. Antiquities was represented by Medson Makuru and Moses Mkumpha and TARA by Gloria K. Borona.
