  ROCK ART IN AFRICA: World Monument Watch SItes
The World Monuments Watch is a programme of the World Monuments Fund. Every two years, the Fund announces the World Monuments Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites - this calls international attention to threatened cultural heritage around the world, and promotes public awareness of threats to sites at risk. The Watch List also encourages local solutions at local and international levels. The 2008 List was selected by a panel of international experts, who reviewed over 200 nominations.

Of the 18 sites in Africa named on the 2008 Watch List, four of these are sites with rock art:
