Signing of MOU

Memorandum of Understanding with the Division of Antiquities, Tanzania

TARA and the Division of Antiquities of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania have entered into a three-year Memorandum of Understanding to survey and conserve rock art sites in Tanzania, to create awareness about sites and to develop responsible tourism as a way of ensuring their long-term preservation.

The MOU was signed at the Department of Antiquities by Donatius Kamamba, Director of the Antiquities Division and TARA Executive Chairman, David Coulson on June 1, 2009. Within the framework of this collaboration, the organizations will soon launch a community project at Kondoa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with extensive rock art on the eastern slopes of the Masai escarpment bodering the Great Rift Valley.
